How To Clean Your Vape Tank

Ensuring that you maintain a clean vape tank is a vital measure in preserving the performance of your e-cigarette setup. It can have a huge impact on the flavour payoff of your favourite E-Liquids, so it’s important to know how to clean the tank on a vape.

Over time, E-Liquid residue can build up in your tank and clog the internal components, causing disruption to the airflow travelling through the tank. This results in restricted airflow and reduces the amount of vapour your device is capable of producing – which is pretty much kryptonite for serious sub-ohm vapers!

With this in mind you may be asking yourself what’s involved in cleaning your vape tank, can you clean your vape tank with water or do you need to clean your vape tank with alcohol? Why do I need to clean my tank?

A big reason to keep your vape tank clean is because of the impact that build-up and e-juice residue can have on the flavour quality of your E-Liquids. So, it’s a good idea to know and learn how to clean a vape tank for new flavour E-Liquids to ensure you can enjoy each puff you take from the first to the last.

When E-Liquid is allowed to accumulate in-between refills, it coats the inside of your vape tank as well as the coil and wicking material in a layer of old, congealed E-Liquid.

So how does this affect your vape and new E-Liquid flavour? Well, it means that when you refill your tank with your new favourite e-juice, the old E-Liquid remaining on the tank and coil is reheated. Which then either clouds or completely overwhelms the flavour of the new E-Liquid.

With this in mind as a general rule, we recommend giving your tank a thorough clean at least once a week. In order to ensure that your e-cigarette setup is performing to the very best of its ability.

Now that we’ve covered why you should clean your vape tank for new flavour e juices. Let’s take a look at how to clean the tank on a vape.

How to clean the tank

Cleaning your vape tank is quick and simple. You won’t need to clean your vape tank with alcohol, all you need is water. That’s right, there’s really no fuss involved it’s quick and simple to do as you can clean vape tanks with water.

Begin cleaning your tank by making sure it is completely empty of E-Liquid. Then, hold the vape tank under warm running water for about one minute to help remove any remaining E-Liquid residue.

After thoroughly rinsing the vape tank, use a piece of kitchen towel or cloth to dry the tank as much as possible. Set the tank aside for around ten minutes to allow for any remaining moisture to evaporate. Before reassembling the vape tank, take a cotton bud and use it to dry any remaining water which might not have evaporated.

For a deep clean

For more intensive cleaning, follow the steps mentioned previously. But rather than holding your vape tank under running water, place it in a bowl of warm water. Then leave it to soak for a couple of minutes. You can even add a couple of drops of mild washing-up liquid to the water to help shift particularly stubborn e-juice residue.

After soaking the vape tank, hold it under running water to rinse off any washing-up liquid suds and be sure to thoroughly dry it before reassembling and reattaching it to your device. As excess moisture could compromise the safety of your e-cigarette or cause premature ageing to the components of the tank.

Once the vape tank is dry, reassembled and reattached to your vape device you should then be able to continue to enjoy your favourite E-Liquids.
